In an effort to keep the professional development of teachers in the PA Multi-region program ongoing, an online component has been added for utilization during the school year. Research states that professional development that follows a blended model has increased impact, supplementing valuable content delivered through face to face sessions.
As part of the PA multi-region program, NASA Explorer Schools is proud to offer four web seminars during September and October that will highlight lessons and activities that can be implemented in classrooms. In an effort to connect the great content delivered at Goddard Space Flight Center this summer to your curriculum needs, these web seminars feature five engaging lessons, activities and engineering design challenges that will tie NASA missions to STEM concepts in your curriculum. These activities demonstrate STEM relevance to students while giving them an opportunity to use and apply STEM concepts to solve these real world NASA problems.
Each PA multi-region participant will be required to attend two of the four web seminars. Participants will also need to complete the web seminar survey associated with the web seminars they attended. The following web seminars will be offered on the dates listed.
9/11/13 - 6:30 pm EST - Engineering Design Process: On the Moon
9/18/13 - 6:30 pm EST - My NASA Data: Analyzing Solar Energy Around the Country
10/10/13 - 6:30 pm EST - Electromagnetic Spectrum: Remote Sensing Ices on Mars
10/16/13 - 6:30 pm EST - Weather and Climate: Satellite Meteorology
These web seminars will be offered through NSTA on the platform Blackboard Collaborate. You will need to have Java updated on your computer to join these sessions. You will need to register with the NSTA Learning Center (free of charge) to join these sessions. Check back to this page after September 1st for detailed directions on how to register and join these sessions.
